Education

1997 - B.A. Geology and Physics, Whittier College
1999 - M.Sc. Mining Engineering and Applied Geophysics, Columbia University
2000 - M.Eng. Geoscience, Cornell University
2006 - Ph.D. Geophysics, The Australian National University

Research Areas:

  • seismology
  • 3D imaging
  • tectonics
  • solid earth geophysics
Research Statement:

My research focus is on the deep structure of the Earth. I am particularly interested in how the physical properties in the mantle vary in three dimensions.  I use tomography and seismic data to image the three-dimensional structure of the mantle and the core-mantle boundary. Currently I am investigating the lateral variation of the core-mantle boundary beneath the Caribbean, as well as the upper mantle structure along the Caribbean and South American plate boundary.
