Composition Examination (CE)

If you are entering Rice in the fall 2008, you should plan to take the CE via the web in May or July 2008. You may choose either of two rounds: May 30 - June 4  or July 9 - July 14. Registration for the first round opens on May 28, and for the second round, on July 7.

You must register to take the CE no later than May 30 at 1:00 PM U.S. Central Daylight Time (CDT) for round one, and no later than July 9 at 1:00 PM CDT for round two. You may only take the examination once and must complete your essay once registered.

Taking the Composition Examination is the first step in satisfying Rice University's graduation requirement concerning writing.
