To the Rice Community:

The Rice University Athletics Committee (RUAC) welcomes students, faculty, and alumni to the new RUAC web site.  The goal of this site is simple and it is not so simple.  We are a university, and as such are inclusive.  A university brings together a diverse set of disciplines, skills, experiences, and talents.    Rice University brings more.  Accompanying the breadth a university secures by its purpose the Rice experience etches a depth in excellence that makes our University unique.  Whether the Rice student is in humanities, natural sciences, engineering, social sciences, music, or business, the legacy of Rice and her artistry in providing an essential dimension to intellectual and personal growth is clear to all who have been associated with our institution.   

The diversity that provides fundamental strength to our University and a unique and distinguished training to our students is based on the clear and overriding theme that at Rice University one excels, whether in the performing arts, in intellectual competitions, civic engagements, or in athletic accomplishments.  The latter are the purview of this University Standing Committee.

This web page is meant to give the Rice Community a window into the student-athlete’s particular role in the university and their remarkable achievements at Rice.  Its goals are to:

·Provide the Rice Community with accurate and substantiated data on a variety of measures of academic performance, both within the University and among our peer Universities.
·Provide the Rice Community with updates and responses to local and national news media coverage of Rice Athletics independently and/or through the Sports Information web site.  
·Provide the Rice Community with accurate and substantiated information in the form of question and answer forums (Q&A).  
·Provide the Rice Community with a seamless medium to communicate to University governance issues in regard to student-athletes and the Rice educational experience.
·Examine and address through the University any violations of University policy in regard to the athletic programs.
