Ecuador
Ecuador has a population of over 13 million people, 45% of whom live in remote, geographically isolated communities. Over the past decade the government has been restructuring the healthcare system to provide more equitable access to medical care, especially to the indigenous, rural populations. Currently, 30% of Ecuadorians have no access to healthcare, leading to high rates of maternal and infant mortality.
