PURPOSE:

To advance research and training in Theoretical and Computational Neuroscience by creating a community of researchers to serve as a focal point for the exchange of ideas, information and technology.  We want to provide a mechanism and environment for interactions that potentially could generate novel projects of a significant scale outside of the reach of any one institution.

TRAINING GOAL:

Our goal is to identify and build a curriculum in Theoretical and Computational Neuroscience that offers breadth and depth and, most importantly, jibes with existing graduate programs in the member institutions. Each of our institutions, at present, covers the fundamentals of theoretical and computational neuroscience through introductory courses. We are not proposing a new graduate program but rather an inter-institutional curriculum that best exploits our existing training resources. The articulation of this curriculum will be manifested in proposals for one or more training grants.

RESEARCH GOAL:

To serve as a catalyst that attracts and unites those interested in theoretical or computational neuroscience and so congeal into a body fit to compete for large center grants.
