Our Mission

The purpose of the Gulf Coast Consortium for Membrane Biology is to advance research and training in biomembranes by creating a community of researchers to serve as a focal point for the exchange of ideas, information and technology, as well as providing a mechanism and environment for interactions that potentially could generate novel new projects to advance knowledge on the frontiers of membrane structure/function.

The GCCMB seeks to fulfill this mission through
combining the unique strengths in the biological, biomedical, computational and physical sciences of each member institution, important in biomembrane research, given the interdisciplinary nature of this field.  In addition, the GCCMB will pursue training and research opportunities that may be outside of the reach of any single institution.
