CTTL  Armadillo
      Armadillo is a web resource for Texas studies materials and was developed in collaboration with Don Perkins at the Houston Independent School District. The site is nationally recognized for its excellence as a K-12 resource.
     
CTTL  Brain Awareness Week 2000
  The Children's Museum of Houston: March 11, 2000 Brain Awareness Wonder Weekend (Presented by Rice University students and staff) A series of hands-on activities for ages 3 and older will be available for exploration. Touch a brain! Test your sense of smell! Build a helmet for an egg!
     
CTTL  Brain Awareness Week 1997
    Members of CTTL in partnership with University of Texas Health Science Center and the Society for Neuroscience utilized both traditional "hands-on activities" and technology to celebrate National Brain Awareness Week- March 17-23, 1997.
     
CTTL  Capture Classroom
    The purpose of this project is to determine if a set of cost-effective technologies can be implemented to support the sharing of the University's intellectual assets through distance learning initiatives. Potential distance learning initiatives include University to University teaching collaborations, University to business seminars, K-12 professional development initiatives, Public Policy forums, outreach to retirement communities, and development of accessible digital archives. CTTL  Catching Up: Factors Influencing Latino Participation in the Information Economy
    The Tomás Rivera Policy Institute, in collaboration with Rice University and the University of Illinois - Chicago, is conducting research on how to increase the flow of Latinos into careers in information technology (IT). CTTL  Community in History
   

In collaboration with the Texas State Historical Association and Hogg Middle School, CTTL will assist in devising new electronic resources and new ways of teaching history using the theme of "community" as a unifying focus across three grade levels. This project is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, Schools for a New Millennium Grant. http://community.rice.edu/ 

     
CTTL  The EduPop Project 
    The EduPop Project creates a mutually beneficial routing point for the educational and commercial networking community in the Houston area. The EduPop project provides a high speed Internet routing point between commercial Internet Service Providers and Texas GigaPOP connected institutions. http://www.edupop.net/ 
     
CTTL  The Electronic Community of Teachers (ECOT)
    Working with local schools, professional organizations, and private businesses, we will forge a new model for professional development. ECOT uses advanced networking and videoconferencing to link experts, teachers, and electronic studios in a distributed community-of-practice. The initial phase of this program was funded by the Texas Telecommunications Infrastructure Board. http://ecot.rice.edu/

    This site shares educational resources that are developed by members of the Electronic Community of Teachers (ECOT) in support of the Houston Independent School District efforts of curriculum reform. http://systemafter.rice.edu 
     
CTTL  The ECOTMedia Broadcasting System
    This project is designed to examine the instructional potential of using-on-the-spot digital video production as a tool for learning and to promote collaboration between K-12 institutions.  As such, the project uses off-the-shelf components which are available to the reporting institutions for little or no cost. http://ecotmedia.rice.edu 
     
CTTL  The Electronic Studio at Hogg Middle School
    The Electronic Studio at Hogg  Middle School is a collaboration between CTTL and the North Central Houston Independent School District to train educators in resource development and integration of technology into curriculum. This project, funded by the Texas Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund was developed from the ground up. It started with network design and deployment and will continue for a year with the development of educational resources by teachers and students in an intranet-like system.
     
CTTL  The Independence Heights Project
    Through interviews and research, the history of the first African-American city in Texas comes to life. http://indepheights.rice.edu 
     
CTTL  Galileo's Web
    The Rice School/La Escuela Rice and members of CTTL developed a middle school web project based on Dr. Albert Van Helden's Galileo Project, a resource about the life of Galileo Galilei. The site has teaching projects and student work.
     
CTTL  The Gardiner Symonds Teaching Laboratory
    The Symonds Teaching Lab is a unique learning environment and teleconferencing facility which combines video, audio, and computing technologies.
     
CTTL  The Heights Remembers World War II
    What if students looked for history in their own backyard? James S. Hogg Middle School students interviewed Houston Heights residents about their remembrances of World War II, both at home and abroad. Listen to their oral histories. This project is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, Schools for a New Millennium Grant. http://WWII.rice.edu 
     
CTTL  Kids Judge! Neuroscience
  Kids Judge! Neuroscience is an interactive "reverse" science fair in which health professionals teach fifth graders about the brain, brain injury and current research. CTTL is one of several participating organizations in the Houston area. The fair will be held March 9, 1999 at the Museum of Health and Medical Science and captured on a national web site for future access. This project is funded by the National Institutes of Health.

CTTL  Principals' Technology Institute
    The purpose of the Principals' Technology Academy was to encourage administrators to explore the notion of the "classroom after next" given the prevalence and power of technology. Also, this academy provided administrators with the discrete skills they need to apply technology in their own personal and professional growth.
     
CTTL  Project OWLink
  Project OWLink experiments with new models of distance learning among five Texas schools with two-way interactive video and high-speed Internet connections provided by SBC (formerly Southwestern Bell).
     
CTTL  The Reconstructors Adventure® "A Plaguing Problem" 
and  The Reconstructors Development Survey
    The Reconstructors® is an interactive multimedia adventure series for middle school students. The web site provides a futuristic world in which explorers scientifically unravel the history and science of opioids. This project is funded by the Science Education Drug Abuse Partnership Award (SEDAPA) Program. http://reconstructors.rice.edu/recon1/index.html 
     
CTTL  Superintendents' Technology Institute
  The Superintendents Technology Institute (SuperTech) is a joint program of CTTL and the Harris County Department of Education with funding from the Compaq Computer Corporation. Through a series of seminars, aspects of technology-driven change are explored.
     
CTTL  Teacher Preparation in a Virtual Classroom
    CTTL, The Houston Independent School District, and the University of St. Thomas received funding from the Department of Education to develop a cadre of technology-proficient teachers by providing ACP interns with the majority of their training through an online, asynchronous, World-Wide-Web-based course environment. http://pt3.org/stories/houston_independent.html 
     
CTTL  Technology-Enriched Spanish 101
  An experimental Spanish 101 course developed by the Department of Hispanic and Classical Studies, CTTL, and the Department of Humanities to investigate the use of technology in creating an "immersion" environment for students learning languages.
